Winners of innovate for Women Hackathon unveiled
On Thursday, 3 October 2019, Minister Paula Ingabire together with Amb. Solina Nyirahabimana Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Minister of Emergency Management; Germaine Kamayirese and Mrs. Fatou Lo; The UN Women Representative in Rwanda attended the closing ceremony of INNOVATE4Women Hackathon, that aims at developing digital solutions to address challenges faced by women.
Delivering her opening remarks, Minister Paula Ingabire said “Bridging the gender digital divide is not for women’s benefits only. Women's empowerment is essential for our society to ensure a sustainable development of our communities & has already proven to improve global economies.”
INNOVATE4Women Hackathon was organized by RISA Rwanda, Digital Transformed Center and other partners.
Six (6) competing teams pitched their projects in front of the panel then Digital Blind Stick, Nutri Rwanda and My Money emerged as the winners of the Hackathon.
Congratulating the teams, Minister Ingabire noted “Congratulations to the teams that made it to the final ‘Innovate4Women’ pitching session. The easier part is done, Let’s work together to take these ideas to the next level of product development and commercialization.”
