Hanga Pitchfest, the largest in-person technology event in Rwanda, is coming back for its second edition.
Hanga Pitchfest is back for its second edition. The competition that attracted over 400 applications in 2021 is accepting applications from qualifying startups and innovators across the country.
Ranging from artificial intelligence-based healthcare solutions to climate-friendly energy storage solutions, to education, manufacturing, agriculture value chain and e-commerce; Rwanda’s startup community illustrated its progressive innovation culture that is significantly contributing to the country’s vision to use technology to deliver services during the inaugural Hanga Pitchfest in December 2021.
Organized by the Ministry of ICT and Innovation and the Rwanda Development Board, Hanga Pitchfest aims to provide a unique platform to showcase tech-entrepreneurs and creative talents from all over Rwanda and promote the use of technology and innovation in the wider Rwandan market.
Again, this year, top startups will be identified through a call for application, a national roadshow “Hanga on the Road” and bootcamps to identify the top 5 startups pitching for USD 110,000 worth of grant money in total and additional non-cash prizes at the festival to be held on December 10, 2022.
The competition will award the top start-up with $50,000, first runner up with $20,000, second runner up with $15000, fourth and fifth runner ups with $12,500 each.
The cash prizes will be disbursed to help further develop their prototypes, support go-to-market strategies and increase capacity to scale. Additional business-enabling prizes, ranging from business development will also be awarded through the support of the development partners.
To complement the final pitch competition on 10th December 2022, Hanga Pitchfest will also include exhibitions from technology companies, startups and support organizations as well as masterclasses and live performances.
Tech-entrepreneurs and creative talents from all over the country are encouraged to apply. Applications are open from September 9th to October 17th,2022, via www.hangapitchfest.rw.
