MITEC organized a workshop on a Strategy to promote Local Digital Content

Wednesday, June 6, 2018, the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (MITEC) organized a consultative workshop, which brought together members of Public sector, Media houses, Local hosting, and creative industries aimed at designing Rwanda’s Local Digital Content Promotion Strategy and Implementation Plan.

The meeting is to engage key private and public sector players in collectively identifying the strategic orientation for the Local Digital Content Promotion Strategy in order to unlock its competitiveness and make Rwanda the new IT Hub in Africa.

During his opening remark, Lt. Col. François Regis Gatarayiha; Permanent Secretary of MITEC thanked all the participants for attending and said that the Ministry together with the private sector will play a key role in leading the strategy design process with the objective to ensure effective implementation.

“The journey ahead requires even more serious and active engagement from all of you and I count on your continued enthusiasm and collaboration to drive implementation and deliver on the ambitious strategy and objectives.”

The meeting is expected to provide a structure to private and public representatives in articulating a realistic vision to guide the industry development. The consultative strategy design process will define a clear 5-years blueprint for strengthening the Rwanda‘s Digital Content industry ability to perform in the domestic market as well as expand in regional and global markets.

The final strategy document will serve as a guiding framework for Government of Rwanda and the private sector to jointly boost the industry performance.
