MITEC hosted Digital Talent Day

On Thursday, June 7, 2018, the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (MITEC) put on an event dubbed “Digital Talent Day” which brought together various stakeholders from Public, private sectors or civil society to discuss and showcase different initiatives related to ICT capacity.

Key topics discussed on include: Strategic initiatives available to strengthen Science Technology and Innovation and Research Development (STI & RD) Ecosystem, Digital jobs presentation, Digital Ambassador Program, Role of digital literacy for cyber security compliance and Available initiatives for technology innovation in TVET.

Speaking to the participants, the Minister of Information Technology and Communications; Honorable Jean de Dieu Rurangirwa, told them they were invited to discuss on how to develop ICT in Rwanda.

“We invited all of you to share initiatives, projects and programs in ICT capacity building area so that we harness them for ICT Sector advancement and creation of more ICT-related jobs.”

Challenging them, Hon. Minister added that it would be useless if they do not fulfil their task, which would bring them back to repeat the same issues.

“It would be useless if next year we come back here, discussing the same things.  My question to you is this: how are we going to enhance coordination of what we do to uplift the ICT Sector?”

It is in this regard, the Minister called upon the attendees for strong collaboration and partnership toward promoting ICT skills and capacity in the country, specifically on implementation of Digital Talent Policy and to plan for a better mechanism to share updates and synchronize Digital Talent Policy initiatives, projects and programs.
