Minister Paula Ingabire officially launches “Women in Technology” Campaign countrywide.

Launching the Campaign dubbed “Women in Technology” in Rubavu District; specifically, of Bugeshi Sector of Western Province, Minister Paula calls upon women to embrace the use of technology, as it is beneficial to them. This took place today; Friday March 15, 2019.

“Technology is considered as a foundation of development in various areas, such as education, agriculture, economy, communication, business and innovation. Dear women, we do not have to be left behind; as we always strive for our families’ and country’s development, it is commendable that we embrace technology. Let’s learn it, teach it, and use it in our every day’s lives.” Says Minister Ingabire.

The Minister of Gender and Family Promotion; Amb. Solina Nyirahabimana, who was invited to the event, has called upon women and girls to embrace technology as an enabler for speeding up development.

The campaign coincided with the official launch of E-certificate platform of Digital Ambassadors Program led by MINICT and implemented by Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) in 12 districts of Rwanda including Rubavu. 30,000 citizens who completed the Digital Ambassadors Program in 2017- 2018, will start accessing their e- certificates using QR codes generated by the E-certificate platform.

MINICT and DOT Rwanda also presented the concept of Digital Transformation Advisors (Abajyanama B’ikoranabuhanga) who will operate at the village level to accelerate the digital inclusion in all districts that host Digital Ambassadors Program (DAP).

This awareness will be conducted across the country through districts, focusing on women in rural areas who are in cooperatives, small businesses, agriculture, and informal sector.
