ICT awareness Campaign took place in Huye District
On Tuesday 26th, June 2018, in Huye District; Southern Province, the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (MITEC) started a two-day ICT Awareness Campaign. Its purpose is to drive the awareness and usage of ICT services, content and applications, to increase ICT Literacy.
At Huye District Office, The Minister Jean de Dieu Rurangirwa together with UWAMARIYA Vénéranda: The Acting Mayor met with the District stakeholders and they discussed about the adoption of self service on Irembo.
After the meeting at the District, they visited female students in Groupe Scolaire Officiel de Butare (GSOB), specifically in Girls in ICT Mentorship, and he told them; “We came here to discuss and encourage you to embrace ICT and benefit from its usefulness. We want to tell you that you too are capable of IT.”
The Minister went to Mbazi Sector for the roadshow event; where a big number of people came for the campaign launch. Speaking to the media, he said “We came to encourage the people to use ICT: we met with businessmen, Private sector, and cooperatives for the same purpose: we encourage them to adopt e-commerce which will be an easy way to reach out to more customers and more effectiveness of their businesses.”
After the campaign in Huye District, The Minister Jean de Dieu Rurangirwa visited Gisagara District, specifically in Shyanda Cell of Save Sector and he appreciated their achievements in ICT such as e-kayi and e-girinka.
