39 public servants completed ICDL Training
On this Friday, May 10th 2019, 39 public servants who had been trained on International Computer Driving License (ICDL) course were awarded certificates of completion. This took place at Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) Muhima Campus.
The guest of honor, Mr. Gordon KALEMA; the Director General of Digital Transformation in the Ministry of ICT and Innovation urged trained staff to seize the opportunity by sharing knowledge and skills acquired to fight digital illiteracy.
“Some global reports say that on a daily basis, a worker loses 10% of time is lost because of lack of digital skills. Imagine the time you lose while finding a file. The focus is not only on public servants, the Ministry is implementing Digital Ambassadors Programme (DAP) which aims at narrowing the digital divide and increasing citizens’ digital literacy.”
Mrs. UMULISA Solange, the ICDL Country Director appreciated the partnership with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation and reiterated that the target is to get all public servants trained.
Mr. GASAMAGERA Wellars, the RMI Director General thanked the trainees for their courage throughout the whole period of training and having passed the tests given in all seven base modules in ICDL programme.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, INGABIRE Valerie who works with The Office of The Prime Minister commended the Government of Rwanda for the opportunity and promised to use skills acquired in their daily lives.
The 39 public servants that graduated from the ICDL training are from six Government institutions which are Office the Prime Minister, Ministry of Public Service and Labour, Ministry of ICT and Innovation, Rwanda Education Board, Rwanda Information Society Authority and Rwanda Management Institute.
